2020 MRO Australasia STEM Experience
The Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools program, in partnership with QLD Government hosted a unique MRO Australasia STEM experience on 11th March 2020.
We were fortunate to have representatives from six Gateway schools which included Maroochydoore State High, Balmoral State High, Indooroopilly State High, Aviation High, St Columban’s College and Noosa District State High.
The 18 students and 3 teachers were treated to an up close and personal insight into engine components, assembly and testing at the Pacific Turbine facility in Pinkenba, followed by a unique opportunity to sit in on the ‘Finding qualified personnel and the future workforce’ panel discussion which formed part of the MRO Australasia conference. This discussion was moderated by Mike Higgins, CEO, RAAA and included the panellists from Hawker Pacific, Aviation Australia, Aviation High School, Griffith Aviation and Boeing Australia.
The students and teachers then participated in a STEM model engine workshop and Virtual Reality Experience run by the Royal Aeronautical Society and Airbus.
