    This is an award from the Honourable Company of Air Pilots, in partnership with Aviation Australia, and is open to those students who can demonstrate their enthusiasm for flying and either have no previous flying instruction, or a no more than 10 flying hours. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age as at 30 November 2021 and there is no limit to the number of applications from each school. FIRST PRIZE INCLUDES: 1. A one-on-one mentoring session with a highly experienced airline Captain, and 2. a 60-minute introduction to flying a modern jet airliner from the Captain’s seat of a Boeing 737 Flight Simulator at Aviation Australia in Brisbane OR a Trial Instructional Flight (The TIF option is available for students with no flying hours only) and 3. Complete a Pilot aptitude assessment, which is designed to identify strengths and weaknesses in terms of potential for being a pilot. RUNNER-UP PRIZE INCLUDES: 1. a 30-minute introduction to flying a modern jet airliner from the Captain’s seat of a Boeing 737 Flight Simulator at Aviation Australia in Brisbane.
  • Requirements

    Your application will include the following: 1. an essay of no more than 500 words (A4 page with 12 point spacing with line spacing of 120%) will outline what your think have been two (2) major impacts on the aviation industry in the 21st century 2. a video of no more than four (4) minutes will highlight your current interest in aviation, explaining what makes a good leader and how this will relate to becoming a professional pilot. This video will be delivered electronically using Vimeo or YouTube. 3. A letter of endorsement from the Aerospace Head of Department as to the applicant’s enthusiasm and suitability.
  • Judging

    The judging committee will consist of representatives of the Honourable Company of Air Pilots. The winner and runner-up will be announced at the 2021 Aerospace Industry Education Awards ceremony on Wednesday 24 November 2021.
