    This award is open to Year 11 students enrolled at an Aerospace Gateway to Industry School and have completed at least one unit of Aerospace Systems, Engineering, Engineering Skills or Industrial Technology Skills. The student must demonstrate a quest for learning about aviation avionics, structures or mechanical engineering and aspire to become a qualified tradesperson in the aircraft industry. The winner will receive an exclusive 3 day Qantas engineering work experience and networking opportunity with the engineering team at Qantas Brisbane base aircraft Maintenance Hangar 3. The Runner Up will be offered a 2 hour “Behind the Scenes” tour of Qantas Brisbane base aircraft Maintenance Hangar 3 offering a rare insight into this world class MRO facility. PLEASE NOTE: All prizes are subject to operational requirements and security clearances. Transport and accommodation do not form part of these prizes.
  • Requirements

    Selection criteria for this Award are as follows: 1. The student demonstrates a genuine interest in pursuing a career in aircraft maintenance; 2. The student achieves their personal best and exceeds expectations; 3. The student demonstrates leadership qualities in positively influencing, inspiring and energizing others; 4. The student has a good school attendance record (provided by the school); 5. A school statement from the relevant Aerospace teacher or HOD addressing the criteria and endorsed by the Principal supporting the student’s application. Schools may include copies of student work to support. (provided by the school); 6. A student’s submission should be a video presentation (using Vimeo or YouTube) no longer than 4 minutes.     The judging committee will consist of representatives of Qantas Airways Ltd. The winner and runner up will be announced at the 2021 Aerospace Industry Education Awards ceremony on Wednesday 24 November 2021.
