• STUDENT APPLICATIONS CLOSE 8am Monday 24th August 2026

    This award recognises a year 7 to 10 student that can demonstrate innovation and strategic thinking skills, problem solving skills and/or design techniques. The winner will receive a $200 cash prize, a medallion and a certificate. The winning student will be offered a unique one-day, behind the scenes tour of Brisbane Airport in 2027, exploring its complex operations with the opportunity to meet the team behind Australia’s third largest airport. Please note: Tour availability is subject to operational requirements, workplace health and safety, and security clearances. Reimbursement for any additional transport and accommodation expenses incurred as part of the tour do not form part of this prize. Each finalist will receive a $100 gift card and certificate.
  • Who can apply?

    This award is open to year 7 to 10 students enrolled in an Aerospace Gateway to Industry School. The student is not required to study any aerospace subject. Previous winners in any award category are ineligible to reapply for the same category.
  • Judging

    Please note that each completed application form, including any personal information provided, will be shared with judging committee representatives. The committee will review a Power Point presentation by the applicant for an innovative new business concept for Brisbane Airport along with any supporting comments from a teacher.

  • Please review Brisbane Airport Corporation’s 'Future BNE Projects' and create a 2-3 minute Power Point presentation proposing an innovative business improvement idea for Brisbane Airport. Your Power Point presentation should: 1. Explain your concept Eg Is it a digital solution, process improvement or new retail/business space? 2. Explain how your idea improves Brisbane Airport? Eg Does your idea save costs, attract people to Brisbane Airport or improve the environmental impact? 3. While applicants may like to use AI tools to draw inspiration or source images and diagrams for their presentation, the judging committee strongly encourages students to use their own words to explain their concept.
