• STUDENT APPLICATIONS CLOSE 8am Monday 24th August 2026

    This award recognizes a year 12 student pursuing a career in aircraft maintenance in an avionics or mechanical workshop environment and offers them a pathway into the aviation industry through paid full-time employment and sponsored training. The winner will receive a $200 cash prize, a medallion and a certificate and will be offered a paid apprenticeship specialising in either Mechanical or Avionics (applicants will indicate their preference) in a repair workshop environment with GE Aerospace in Brisbane including sponsorship to complete a Certificate IV in Aeroskills commencing in 2027. Each remaining finalist will receive a $100 gift card and a certificate.
  • Who can apply?

    This award is open to year 12 students enrolled in an Aerospace Gateway to Industry School. Applicants must have completed, or be in the final stages of, an aerospace-related course at Certificate II or III level. Certificate II or III courses, that have contextualised aerospace across at least one unit qualify for this award. Applicants must have legal working rights and be willing to accept the employment and training opportunity offered commencing January 2027 in Brisbane.
  • Judging

    Please note that each completed application form, including any personal information provided, will be shared with judging committee representatives. The committee will review a written paragraph submitted by the applicant, extra-curricular evidence, course information along with any supporting comments from a teacher. As part of the judging process, once finalists have been announced, all finalists in this category will be invited to attend an interview to assist the judging panel in determining the award winner.
