Empowering Pathways Award Form
APPLICATIONS/NOMINATIONS CLOSE 8am Monday 24th August 2026
This award recognises a teaching professional who demonstrates initiative in their approach to aerospace education and inspires others through their ongoing contributions to the learning outcomes of both students and colleagues. The winner will receive a trophy, a certificate and a customised professional development trip that aligns to the Queensland College of Teachers requirements of continuous professional development. Each remaining finalist will receive a $100 gift card and a certificate.
Who is eligible?
This award is open to all teachers employed at an Aerospace Gateway to Industry School. This award is open to self-nomination, or a teacher can be nominated by a colleague. The winner must be available for domestic and overseas travel when awarded, which includes attending the ‘Space Academy for Educators’ program in Huntsville, Alabama USA during 2027. Should the successful applicant be unable to travel, or attend, for whatever reason at that time, the right is reserved for a replacement program or prize to be offered. Previous winners in any award category are ineligible to reapply for the same category.
Judging
Please note that each completed submission, including any personal information provided, will be shared with judging committee representatives. The committee will review a written submission, along with supporting materials and statements on behalf of the educator. The judging committee request that educators demonstrate the following in their submission: o How their aerospace teaching practices and/or innovative programs foster students’ curiosity, imagination and enthusiasm, as well as enhancing knowledge. o How they disseminate, or intend to disseminate, information about these teaching practices and programs to other teachers, where possible, to assist other teachers to improve the teaching of aerospace in the Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools Program. o How they attract a diverse range of students to the program.
