New Earth: Students Design Rockets and Build a Moon Base in Minecraft

4 October - 10 October

New Earth is a free global build inside Minecraft, open to students aged 7 to 18 anywhere in the world. Students come into our own Minecraft server, a bespoke world built for safety for this kind of event. It runs in two parts. From Monday 5 to Wednesday 7 October, students join the world, find their way around, and are handed the question the whole event is built on: you are going to the Moon, what would you design for your rocket? Each student gets their own plot of land and builds their own rocket on it, and they need to be able to say why it is that shape and what it is carrying. On the night of the 7th – that world then closes. On Friday 9 October a new world opens and the rockets have arrived. Students spend 24 hours building a Moon base together, in collaboration with students from around the world, following the sun so each region picks up where the last one left off. Students take part on their own devices and their own accounts, so there is nothing for a school to buy and nothing for a district to approve. Schools can register a team and individual students can join on their own.

Run by STEMAIVERSE, a US 501(c)(3) delivering STEM and AI programs to students internationally.
