    An Australian professional development trip prize for a teacher who displays innovation in their teaching of aerospace concepts and principles or involved in delivering an aerospace project. This award may contribute to the QLD College of Teachers requirement of continuous professional development. The Aerospace Teacher Excellence is awarded to a teacher from one of the Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools. This is a significant award which recognises an outstanding commitment to teaching excellence in the field of aerospace education.
  • Rationale

    The industry partners to the Aerospace Project wish to reward a teacher who personifies education excellence. The Award recognises a teaching professional who demonstrates initiative in his/her approach to aerospace education and who inspires others through the teacher’s ongoing contributions to the learning outcomes of both students and other teachers. This is a prestigious award which will provide the recipient with: 1. a valuable professional development experience in aerospace-related studies; and 2. a leadership opportunity in the provision of professional development for colleagues; and 3. the ability to contribute to the effectiveness of the Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools Project.
  • Judging

    Selection will be based on the extent to which applicants can demonstrate and substantiate: how their aerospace teaching practices and/or innovative programs foster students’ curiosity, imagination, and enthusiasm, as well as enhancing knowledge; and how they disseminate or intend to disseminate, information about these teaching practices and programs to other teachers, where possible, to assist other teachers to improve their teaching of aerospace in Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools. The award will be granted based on a comparative assessment of each applicant’s statement, interview, recommendations, and substantiation. General Requirements: A successful applicant must be available for travel at the time in 2022 selected for attendance within Australia. Should the successful applicant be unable to travel for whatever reason at that time, the right is reserved for a replacement applicant to be chosen to travel in place. There is no limit to the number of applications from any one Aerospace Gateway to Industry School. In the event that a successful application is based around a particular program that involves more than one teacher, only one applicant may be awarded the prize.
