• STUDENT APPLICATIONS CLOSE 8am Monday 24th August 2026

    This award recognises a student who can demonstrate their enthusiasm and motivation for a career as a pilot and has received minimal or no flying experience. The winner will receive a $200 cash prize, a medallion and a certificate. The winning student will also receive a one-on-one mentoring session with a highly experienced airline Captain, a 60 minute Boeing 737 flight simulator session at Aviation Australia’s Brisbane campus and a pilot aptitude assessment. Each remaining finalist will receive a $100 gift card and a certificate.
  • Who can apply?

    This award is open to students enrolled in an Aerospace Gateway to Industry School. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age on 1st August 2026 and have no more than 50 flying hours in a fixed wing powered aircraft. Previous winners in any award category are ineligible to reapply for the same category.
  • Judging

    Please note that each completed application form, including any personal information provided, will be shared with judging committee representatives. The committee will review a written statement and video presentation submitted by the applicant along with any supporting comments from a teacher.
